Dave Fox's solo recording of grand piano improvisations, using both conventional and extended techniques, leads the listener into new sonic realms that both challenge and entice appreciation from his audience. One can detect numerous influences, from the masters of classical piano literature , like Beethoven, Bartok, Charles Ives, and George Crumb, to jazz and avant garde greats like Irene Schweizer, Abdullah Ibrahim, and Cecil Taylor, but the key import of this release is that this recording integrates these influences into a well-presented set of pieces, wholly Dave's own, through which many new sounds are provided for the exceptional listener. This is an excellent-sounding disc!
